NAACP NYCHA Launches "Connecting Community" Voting Campaign, Uniting Local Businesses, Independent Artists and NYCHA Communities Ahead of the 2026 Election
NEW YORK, NY — September 2026
The NAACP NYCHA Connecting Community Voting Campaign is a five-borough civic engagement initiative that brings together local businesses, NYCHA residents, independent artists and community partners to make nonpartisan voter education more visible and accessible where New Yorkers live, work and gather. The campaign is inviting restaurants, salons, barbershops, entertainment venues, retailers and other neighborhood establishments to become Voters Hubs, displaying 11 x 18 voter education posters, digital screen graphics, window or door decals and official materials that direct residents to authorized voter-registration and election resources. Businesses do not need to be political organizations to participate.
Alongside the Voters Hubs, participating NYCHA independent artists will serve as community voices for voter education, using their music, performances, social media and existing audiences to share information on registration, deadlines and early voting and to point supporters to nearby Voters Hubs. In return, artists will gain access to music industry and media professionals, local businesses, community organizations, networking opportunities and campaign events. Artists who demonstrate meaningful, documented community outreach can compete for a $500 Grand Prize, five or more music-industry giveaways and a performance opportunity, and all participating NYCHA artists will be invited to a post-election Connecting Community performance that showcases emerging talent from across the five boroughs. Prize eligibility is subject to applicable election laws, campaign rules and official program guidelines.
As the campaign enters its final countdown, New York's official election calendar lists October 24, 2026 as the General Election voter-registration deadline, October 24 through November 1, 2026 as the Early Voting period, and November 3, 2026 as General Election Day. Residents should consult official New York election resources to confirm registration requirements, deadlines, polling locations and voting options.
Businesses are encouraged to become Voters Hubs, artists to share official resources with their supporters, NYCHA residents to check their registration status and make a voting plan, and community partners to help connect neighbors with reliable information.
